Noël Bertrand Boundzanga, one of the first candidates to declare his intention to run in the Gabonese presidential election, announced his withdrawal from the race on Tuesday, March 4, in Libreville.
For Noël Bertrand Boundzanga, a researcher and lecturer, this decision is justified by the candidacy of the Transitional President, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.
"On September 4, 2023, the Transitional President pledged to return power to civilians through a free, transparent, and credible election. Today, by announcing his candidacy, he is going back on his word and betraying the trust of the Gabonese people," he stated.
"This situation distorts the democratic process and undermines the credibility of the election," he added.
