Samuel Eto'o has won another battle. The president of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) has been cleared by the Appeals Jury of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Samuel Eto'o has finally been exonerated in the match-fixing case and his alleged association with a sports betting platform. Initially fined $200,000, the former Cameroonian international has now had his honor restored.

"After a thorough review, the Appeals Jury concluded that the CAF Disciplinary Jury was not competent to rule on ethical matters, which fall exclusively under the jurisdiction of an independent Ethics Committee. Consequently, the decision of June 27, 2024, which imposed a fine of $200,000 on Mr. Eto’o, has been annulled. (…) In accordance with the principle of litispendence, it determined that CAF's disciplinary bodies could not take up this case."

The statement from Samuel Eto'o's lawyers on this matter was shared by the Fecafoot account, according to Africa Top Sports.
