Alassane Ouattara, President of Côte d'Ivoire, receives the highest honor from the African Conference for the Promotion of Peace. The award ceremony will take place in Nouakchott from January 21 to 23.

Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara will be awarded the 2025 African Prize for the Promotion of Peace during the upcoming African Conference for the Promotion of Peace 2025 in Nouakchott, the organization announced in a statement received by APA.

This distinction, established in 2022, recognizes President Ouattara's "crucial role" in strengthening peace and stability in Africa, particularly his "exemplary leadership" within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

"His commitment to shared humanist values and his unwavering support for peaceful solutions have greatly contributed to consolidating peace in the West African sub-region," emphasized Sheikh Al Mahfoudh Bin Bayyah, coordinator of the Conference, as quoted by the African Press Agency.

The ceremony will be held under the high patronage of Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, as part of a joint initiative between the Mauritanian government and the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace.

Alassane Ouattara follows in the footsteps of previous laureates Adama Barrow (2024), Muhammadu Buhari (2023), and Mohamed Bazoum (2022), all recognized for their contributions to peace in Africa.
