The construction of facilities for the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games in Dakar 2026 is advancing smoothly, with sports infrastructures scheduled for completion by December 2025, according to Balla Dièye, the Games' Director of Sports.

"The renovation of the Olympic Swimming Pool in Dakar and the rehabilitation of the Iba Mar Diop Stadium are progressing perfectly. We anticipate delivering these facilities by December 2025," stated Dièye.

He emphasized that the Iba Mar Diop Stadium and the Olympic Swimming Pool are the primary venues in Dakar designated for the Youth Olympic Games.

Regarding the Iba Mar Diop Stadium, Dièye noted, "The stands have been demolished, foundation work has commenced, and we are on schedule. The Ageroute [Agency for Road Works and Management], the project owner, is overseeing the construction alongside the COJOJ."

In addition to Dakar, the cities of Diamniadio and Saly (Thiès) are set to host events for the upcoming Youth Olympic Games in less than two years.

Dièye mentioned that the COJOJ's operations department is closely monitoring the progress of the works and is collaborating effectively with the 35 national federations through their international counterparts.

The Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026 are scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 13, 2026.
