A Museum of African Cultures is set to open its doors in Moscow in 2026, as announced on Friday by Alexander Sedov, Director General of the State Museum of Oriental Art.

“Our organization will soon receive the documentation to begin renovating a building in central Moscow, which will house the Museum of African Cultures,” Sedov stated.

He further added, “The renovation will be completed by 2025, and the museum will open in the first half of 2026.”

The upcoming museum will feature historical and cultural collections, religious artifacts from Muslim and Christian communities on the continent, as well as objects from various cults and pagan traditions, Sedov explained. He also promised to showcase around 1,800 items from the State Museum of Oriental Art's special collection at the new exhibition venue.
