Following the qualifiers, all eyes are now on the tournament that will feature Africa's top football nations competing on Moroccan soil.

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, a premier continental football event, will take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. This competition gathers Africa’s best national teams and generates immense excitement across the continent.

It is the most-followed sporting event in Africa. While awaiting the kickoff, national teams are currently engaged in the qualifiers, which will conclude in November 2024. The 2025 AFCON will host 24 teams, a format maintained for this edition.

Morocco – Host Nation

As the host, Morocco has already secured its spot among the 24 qualified teams. This marks the country’s 19th AFCON appearance. Morocco, a one-time champion, has consistently demonstrated its football prowess over the years.

Burkina Faso – Group L

The Stallions of Burkina Faso remain a formidable force in African football. Their qualification for AFCON 2025 marks the nation’s 13th appearance in the competition.

Algeria – Group E

With an impressive track record, including a recent continental victory in 2019, Algeria reaffirms its position among Africa’s elite. This will be their 20th AFCON participation, a remarkable achievement.

Cameroon – Group J

The Indomitable Lions continue to shine on the African stage. By qualifying once again for AFCON 2025, Cameroon upholds its reputation as a football powerhouse with 20 total appearances.

Senegal – Group L

The reigning 2021 African champions, Senegal, remains one of the continent’s strongest teams. This marks their 17th appearance, with high hopes for another continental title.

Egypt – Group C

Egypt, the most decorated nation in the history of the tournament, remains a central player in African football. With 26 appearances, Egypt is a cornerstone of AFCON history. 

Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) – Group G

DR Congo is another country with a regular presence in the Africa Cup of Nations. Their 20th appearance underscores their status as serious contenders each time they qualify.

Angola – Group F

Angola, a team that has made its mark in the past, secures its 9th AFCON appearance. Angola remains a team capable of surprises in major tournaments.

Nigeria – Group D

The Super Eagles of Nigeria, boasting a team of exceptional talent, continue their AFCON journey with a 19th appearance, aiming for another continental triumph.

Equatorial Guinea – Group E
