The Program for Supporting Democratic Elections and Promoting Civic and Political Leadership, named SIECLE, was officially launched in Abidjan.

The "SIECLE" program aims to strengthen the transparency and accountability of electoral processes while increasing the participation of youth and women in political life. It has encouraged political parties to initiate training on democratic culture and better prepare future voters.

"An election requires an electorate that is well-educated and prepared to vote, as well as political actors who are trained and committed to winning the electorate's vote," said the Minister of the Interior and Security, General Vagondo Diomandé, during the official presentation of the program. This initiative highlights the importance of an active citizenry aware of democratic issues to ensure free, transparent, and fair elections.

This program is financed with 15 million dollars by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for the 2024-2029 period. It is part of a global effort to support democratic governance, aiming to reduce disparities in political participation, especially in regions where civic engagement remains low.

Beyond mere training, "SIECLE" also aims to strengthen election monitoring mechanisms with independent observers and increased awareness of the importance of transparency. Electoral experts will collaborate with local authorities and civil society organizations to ensure that every step of the electoral process complies with international standards.

In addition to civic education, the program will support the development of platforms for dialogue between political parties and voters, creating an environment where trust and mutual engagement can flourish.
