The referendum on Guinea’s new Constitution will be held on September 21, 2025, according to a presidential decree.
“The date for the referendum on the adoption of the new Constitution is set for Sunday, September 21, 2025,” announced the decree, which was read on national television Tuesday evening by General Amara Camara, Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency.
According to Guinea’s transitional government, both presidential and legislative elections will also be held within the same year.
“Let it be clear that in 2025, the return to constitutional order will be effective, with the organization of the constitutional referendum and the presidential and legislative elections,” stated Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah recently.
Transitional President Mamadi Doumbouya had also pledged in his New Year’s address that 2025 would be a “crucial electoral year to complete the return to constitutional order.”
