According to the Global Emotions Report by American magazine Ceoworld, Gabon ranks in 2025 as the 3rd least stressed African country, with a score of 61.86. Gabon also holds the 87th position worldwide and ranks first in Central Africa.

This ranking is attributed to Gabon due to its relatively stable political climate, low population density, and attractive landscapes—from beaches to forests—that contribute to a serene atmosphere.

In Central Africa, Gabon is followed by Equatorial Guinea, which ranks 4th in Africa and 94th globally with a score of 60.13. At the continental level, Seychelles holds the top spot as the least stressed African country, followed by Mauritius.

Botswana ranks fifth, followed by Libya, Cape Verde, and Namibia, according to Le Nouveau Gabon.

However, Burundi is identified as the most stressed country in Africa, due to its political and economic instability. Nations such as South Sudan, Malawi, Syria, and Afghanistan are also among the most stressful places in the world.

The study, conducted between December 2024 and January 2025, surveyed residents of 197 countries on their daily stress levels.

The Ceoworld report is based on criteria such as work, finances, social and family life, as well as health and safety.
